In 2010 I crossed the Alantic Ocean to work for the Dutch studio Guerrilla Games in Amsterdam. The studio is known for the first person shooter franchise Killzone and now better known for Horizon Zero Dawn.
I was hired to be part of the core team to kick off a completely new franchise. At the time the Killzone 3 project was wrapping up so I helped out with some of the mission work before moving on to the new title.
After shipping Killzone 3 I was part of the team prototyping an original game idea. We were not more than 8 people at the start working from a blank canvass.
My official title was Lead Combat Design but I was responsible for much more including- the Player character Aloy, movements, camera, mounts, progression system, enemy AI, weapons, resources and economy.
